Deitra Baker and Family

My name is Deitra and I have been working with children, teens, young adults, and parents for over 10 years. I am a dual licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in the states of Texas (Lic. #203614) and California (Lic. #104009). I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Spelman College, and a Masters degree in Community Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University, Atlanta.

As a Parenting Strategist and Human Behavior Expert, I am able to provide real solutions and practical tips for real life challenges. In my practice, I focus on all topics related to relationships (family relationship dynamic issues, parent-child relationship issues,.. ), overall personal, relational, familial, professional growth, mental health and wellness. My greatest passion and goal is to empower families to operate in the fullness of love, as they seek to live a life of happiness, fulfillment and mental health and wellness.

I believe that you, as the client, are the driving force behind your therapeutic process. As I tell, show, and involve you in the process of growth and change, you will become more confident in your ability to thrive.

Because I strongly believe in the importance of family synergy, I assist individuals and families in exploring cultural, contextual, and systemic factors that may be restrictive and limiting, and therefore impact their overall psychological health and well-being.

I specialize in providing culturally sensitive clinical and non-clinical services to assist each member of the family. My services include Telehealth therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, individuals, and families.

I have been privileged to work in a number of settings which include private practice, residential treatment for adolescent boys and girls in foster care, and the juvenile justice system.

My areas of expertise include child, adolescent, and Transitional Aged Youth behavioral health, parenting, and family of origin dynamics. I enjoy working with young people who need support with: trauma, separation, relational difficulties, low self-esteem, parent-child conflict, home or school problems. I offer screen-free coaching to support families with your decision to prioritize more engagement and less electronics.

I am solution-focused, offering concrete do-able strategies for problem resolution. I create a therapeutic space that is warm and inviting in order to facilitate healthy dialogue. As a consumer, my hope is that you feel like you are getting a sneak peek into how I truly practice what I preach, coming across as very authentic, genuine and someone you can trust with your challenges. Typically, sessions are weekly or bi-weekly and last 45-50 minutes.
